How Does it all Work?

Supporting a Member of Parliament and running a constituency is a time consuming task.  This is the role of the Constituency Association. There are very few paid employees so the goodwill and enthusiastic assistance of its members is critical.

In February 2002 the Association joined the Gloucestershire Group in order to benefit from extra and shared resources within the enlarged grouping which supports the activities of 6 constituencies.

We are one of very few such groupings.

Group Agent

Whilst local Branches form the backbone of the Association, the Gloucester Group benefits from having its own Group Agent who, with his small staff, effectively co-ordinates things day-to-day but needs the help of Association members to organise the huge range of activities and events, assist with campaigning and help with fund-raising.  Two constituency wide raffles each year, as well as holding appeals towards our fighting fund for election campaigns, both local and national.  Most of the Party's money comes from subscriptions and the efforts of our members.

If you would like to become actively involved in any way, get in touch with the Chairman or one of the other officers of your branch, or, if there is not an active branch in your area, please contact the office.  Any offer of help is always gratefully received.

How are We Organised?

The Cotswold Conservative Association is organised as follows:

  • An Executive, which provides strategic direction to the Association. The Executive is composed of the Association Officers, the Management Team, two representatives from each Branch and up to three co-opted members.
  • Association Officers who are responsible for managing the Constituency Association. The officers are President, Chairman, Deputy Chairman (Political) and Deputy Chairman (Membership and Finance). These officers are elected each year at the Association Annual General Meeting.
  • Finance & General Purposes Committee, which runs the constituency on a day-to-day basis, together with the Association officers, according to the policy set by the Executive. The members of this Team are elected each year at the Association Annual General Meeting.
  • Branches that represent Association members in each ward in the Cotswold Constituency. Each branch has its own elected officers.

You can play your part by joining the Conservative Party.

The Conservatives are already the largest party in local Government, and Conservative Future is Britain’s largest and fastest–growing student body.

David Cameron’s Conservative Party is a party that represents everyone in Britain: wherever they live, whatever their race, religion, gender, sexuality or salary.
